so you THINK you can dance?

Congratulations to Chace Crawford, 'Gossip Girl' star. He's just been cast as the lead in the new version of 'Footloose'.

The 23-year-old Crawford was born just a year after the release of the original film in 1984. "He's never danced before but he's an extremely good athlete, which makes him likely to pick it all up fairly easily," explains our mole in the studio. "And he's really up for it. After all, he's an actor and so he needs to be challenged."

Ayyy.... Chace. Look how they treat you, baby. First, no one bothers to condition your hair, then no one bothers to give you acting lessons and NOW they want to make you into one of the most iconic dancing characters WITHOUT ever have danced before? No one loves you, do they? They shove you in the back, give you horrible plot lines, make you crawl back to a girl you obviously dont care about and now they want you to dance. I mean, I'm surprised you haven't developed a drinking problem or something. Considering last time you were 'challenged' the fandom revolted against your CRAZY!NATE look. At least the fuzzy beard is gone. Someone had mercy on my soul.

  1. Seriously? These people think good athleticism will make a good dancer? Do they have graphs correlating these two variables?

Jeez. Good luck to him though.

  2. Poor Chace...
Little archifused Natie is a more suitable character for him, but well...good luck!

  3. what amuses me the most about chace being in footloose is that he'll most likely be starring oppisite miley cyrus (according to reports). i mean isnt that girl like 16 or something? this is just plain embarrasing.

  4. meh could be horrible or a big break. I really want to believe in Chace though, he seems like a nice guy and Im determined not to let my Nate hate affect him.

On a side note the writers REALLY need to do some damage control on Nate next season.

  5. No, no. We actually adore Chace. He's a squishy-pie; but I do really think his one awesome thing is his looks. I saw him the Covenant, that Video he did with whatshername and the Haunting thing and he's just... it's just not his thing. He's adorable though. Yeah.

  6. I'm more annoyed over the fact that we need a remake of Footloose. Kevin Bacon did it already, get some new ideas, Hollywood!

  7. I'd be more worried about the acting rather than the dancing; Kenny Ortega (the director) is a very talented choreographer and presumably made sure that Chace at least had rhythmn before they cast him plus they've got 'til March to teach him (though an actual dancer would have been better). Acting wise Chace does alright with the very light stuff but his dramatic range is limited to a scowl, a raise of the eyebrow or looking contemplatively to the side. And in this case he has to carry the whole movie. Yet at the same time I think it probably is the right direction for him to go in in order to have an acting career outside of and beyond Gossip Girl.

  8. i'm actually looking forward to this because i wanna see how chace is going to pull it off. i mean, really, chace in a musical?! just imagining him dancing sort of cracks me up, which is why i so can't wait for this movie.

but then, who knows, he might have something more in common with zac efron than just his looks. maybe he won't look so confused this time. :)

  9. Well as with Jennifer Beals in Flashdance, much of the dance sequences in Footloose were done by a double (in fact the doubles in both movies were married.) Anyway, Kenny Ortega will get whatever he needs out of Chace and shoot distance shots or feet close-ups when necessary, I'm sure. I hope this works for Chace.

  10. Awww, Chace, I love you and really want you to do well. I think he's gotten better this season. Although I'll admit to never seen Footloose, so I have no idea what kind of movie it is.

He definitely should stick to light hearted stuff, though. He owned 218 with that freak out on stage.

  11. This just confirms what I've suspected from the pilot. Chace (or his people) want him to the next Zac. Honestly, taking Efron's sloppy seconds, way to prove you're a "serious actor" Chace.
