black and white is even BETTER

He's not making it any easier on us, is he?

Dammit.

I told Inca I wasn't posting this but you know... I lied. :)

But check out my favorite part of the interview.

This season, one of Gossip Girl’s biggest twists has been an unexpected victory of talent over mere beauty: The show’s two most lively, versatile, and engaging actors, Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick, have gotten more and more screen and story time. Virtue rewarded? It’s the kind of meritorious upset that would infuriate their characters, the show’s colorfully scheming on-and-off lovers Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass.
Interview Magazine
Yeah. I have nothing more to say to the moronic fools who continue believing that having a BEAUTIFUL man with 2 facial expressions saying lines in a robotic manner is better than raw talent.

Congratulations, Interview Magazine! You're OFF the Kool-Aid!!

  1. Your favorite = my favorite. TALENT OVER MERE BEAUTY. They come out with it so bluntly, so honestly. I fuckin' love this interview. And Ed is so weirdly James Dean-esque here.

  2. Sorry isn't that a tad condescending... Ed Westwick's no Susan Boyle.. He is talented AND beautiful (not in a gayface way). Awww.

  3. i love it how EVERYONE is recognising that ed and leighton are the talented actors in the lot - is there any question as to even why the whole world (atleast those off the koolaid) are in love with them :)

  4. I kind of hate this argument though, because I truly think that Leighton and Ed are the two most attractive people on the show (in addition to being the most talented, obviously). Like, for some reason brunette =/= attractive.

  5. "I truly think that Leighton and Ed are the two most attractive people on the show"

They said "mere beauty" not just beauty, though. I think they were implying that Leight/Ed were beautiful AND talented. Whereas some of the others are 'merely' beautiful.

  7. can i just come in here for a moment and bitch about WHY DID LEIGHTON[ALL HAIL THE QUEEN] AND ED NOT GET IN TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PPL LIST >:( [not that i'm hatin on serena or taylor - i like those two] and maybe chace shld have made it too - his pretty looks seem to be the only reason he still has a job!

  8. It's true. But I also think people make fun of Chace a little too much. I mean, just like you said in the Chuck-essay, Ed is not the kind of actor you usually see in a teen show. They mostly cast actors with "talents" like Chace. That's why he comes off so bad - he simply pales in comparison. It's not that Chace is really horrible, because a teen show doesn't require him to be a stellar actor. It's that Ed and Leighton are too good. Had he been on OTH, he'd fit right in :D

  9. Great photo, interesting interview! Ed has so much potential....
I don't think the "mere beauty" argument is condescending. I think they mean that Ed and Leighton are not merely beautiful but talented as well. It's a great compliment, imo.

  11. Haha- the comparison with a still life painting is not entirely right. I just discovered Chace's second face expression: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm260/charlesbartbass/rares%20or%20myspace/l_5b3d5887d634135c8a974f47de480064.jpg
Okay, he's probably high but it's still an improvement, eh? :)

Oh, and Ed is hot as always.
