prom over LILY

(GOSSIP GIRL SPINOFF (Warner Bros/CBS-Paramount/Alloy Entertainment): As I reported at 2:45 PM today, put a fork in it. It's done. Next Monday's episode of Gossip Girl is a flashback that was supposed to be a tempting taste for next fall's spinoff following the wild teen years of now mom Lily van der Woodsen (played by Brittany Snow) in Los Angeles in the 1980s. But even though I heard Peter Roth loved its yesteryear vibe, the show went from hot, to lukewarm, to "fading but wouldn't count out", to now dead, according to my insiders. I'm really surprised.

I mean... let us be honest here. We expected this show to cancel eventually but to get the boot before it even started filming? That just FUCKING PISSES US OFF! I mean - you've CUT OUR FUCKING PROM IN HALF!! So we can see people in really bad outfits?? Whatever, man. Just... another WISE move. These writers have A LOT of shit to fix come next season; matters not where they end this season - they have some SERIOUS fixing to do. It's operation FIX MY FUCKING SHOW, BITCH. STOP trying to shock people and write well developed storylines! The fans WILL watch if the story is interesting not repetitive, ludicrous and generally disproportional. And stop ordering more episodes in the middle of the fucking season so that everyone needs to re-write everything to fit the time because FUCK! & stay off the Kool-Aid, bitches, because that is what happens with fucked up decisions.

end of anti-writers/network rant

  2. Yeeess!! I'm so pissed right now at the writers, this feels like CV all over again (or I never got over CV and this is just bringing up ALL MY HATE THAT I HID DEEP INSIDE).

  3. I'm actually LMAO! I mean this is really funny to me. I hate that our prom is getting cut in half- it sucks, but at the same time I'm wondering who woke up and decided a spin-off about a character barely anyone likes just isn't going to make the grade...especially when it's writers have already sunk the ratings of GG with bad s/l's. Hmmmm.....maybe if they did their research in the first place they would have figured it out but never-the-less, I laugh. Maybe now SS and JS will actually pay attention to the projects they have and not screw them over.....One can dream, right?

  4. Honestly...I think this is fantastic news. I totally agree with 9:04. This whole season/offscreen thing has been Greek tragedy. I mean...the cracks were visible from almost the beginning of the season, and there were people (Cassandras in this metaphor) discussing how careless they were being with the writing since at least episode 6 or 7. Things got worse and worse and the writers were SO full of hubris as they totally sunk there own ship, while Schwartz bragged about how brilliant they were. Now, the ratings have tanked, they've been critically savaged, and fans are pissed. Now, they have displeased the Gods, and the comeuppance for their hubris is on them. Look at what CV has wrought! HA!!!! I mean...didn't we all know this was a lousy idea? All we need to complete the Greek tragedy motif is a sacrifice--Vanessa in the finale. Do it people! The gods must be appeased! Uh, am I stretching this metaphor too far? :P

Best news, now they might be forced to ADMIT how wrong they were and focus their attention on GG before season 3. I suggest they go back and watch season 1.

Even if they continue being stupid, just seeing them kicked in the teeth frankly makes me happy at this point.

  5. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings for the last few episodes, the four million damage control Savage had to give in order to calm down fans for effing the show with OMFG moments (NB, CV, anyone?), prolonging CB, had something to do with this decision.

The CW probably thought about the spin off in relation to all that's been going on with Gossip Girl lately and figured that the writers need to focus on one show on their network, not two.

Here's to the hope that the CW also told Savage and Schwartz to stop throwing couples with no chemistry together, stop destroying friendships for cheap hookups, and stop thinking up pairings that make no sense whatsoever.

Also...I'm sure the fact that Lily is the most hated GG character after Vanessa didn't help.

  6. Am I the only one NOT that pissed about our episode being cut in half?
What I mean is, of course less time means less CB but it also means less NB, right?

We had that dreadful NB kiss in the Canadian promo and I think there will be more of that if the ep isn't cut in half.
