Of all the amusing things we've heard this week, this one takes the motherfucking cake! I mean, it takes it with frosting and all. The publishers have released a new COLLECTOR'S EDITION covers for the books. Re-published with the show's pictures. Now, as all of you know, Nairers pride themselves in pointing out that in the books Nair was THE COUPLE (never mind the fact that he bounced from Blair to Serena to Jenny and back to pot, but you know) of the books. That they've loved them since the books.
Now, here is when the joke comes in. In this new COLLECTOR'S EDITION release the books have 11 new shiny covers.
Nair is featured in exactly ZERO of them. In it's stead Chair, who barely interact in the books, take a total of 4 of the 11 covers. Nate/Jenny (wave to my peeps) share 2 and even NV & NS get one!!! BUT THE 'MAIN' SHIP OF THE BOOKS?? NONE.
I would like to take this moment to LAUGH MY FUCKING ASS OFF.
It gets BETTER. The book in which Nair finally CONSUMES their 'love'... sports a Chair cover. If that's not fucking irony I dont know what it is.

That is really hilarious. I do feel a bit bad for the SANE NBers out there (the ones that loved them from the books and don't go around acting like toddlers on message boards), since now even the books are going to be tainted for them. I always thought, "Well, NBers have the books, CBers have the show." But now they don't even have the books. Still, I have to marvel at the fact that there's not a single NB cover. I guess they thought they wouldn't sell. I do find it kind of odd that they're doing this, however, considering that none of the characters in the show (except for Blair, maybe) are remotely the same as the characters in the books. I'm always happy with CB love, though!

ReplyDeletewow, just visted that website and realised that the most amount of covers are for chair - i guess it's quite obvious to everyone who the main couple in the show are! also the fact that ed and leighton create some of the most memorable and intense scenes ever, and that wld always make for great book covers :)

This? Is motherfucking hilarious! Looks like marketing knows that CB are GG's most-loved couple and will therefore use it to their advantage. But I kinda feel bad for every fan of the show who picks up a book thinking there will be CB epicness in it, only to discover that Chuck is barely in the series. I tried picking up a book, but halfway thru I was like "Needs moar Chuck" and put it down. CB have effectively ruined me for the books because now I will accept nothing less.

ReplyDeleteLMFAO I love Chair on the show... but when i saw those book covers, I was like WTF are C&B doing on the book covers? I fricken adore Chuck(the tv version) beyond words, but he seriously doesn't even belong on any of the book covers. Chuck on the show is a completely different character than in the Book.. He barely appears in the book...heck, Georgina deserves a cover more than Chuck...
