There is a reason we're so very enamoured with Alice and her words right now. It's her magic with statements. On that line of view, can I say HELL VUCKING YEAH?? 400!!!!!
We kinda feel bad for Korbi, she totally got creamed with statements from fans. Here is another cream-worthy statement from our very own Alice:
VUCKING YEAH! (I LOVE that, Cowgirl, it equates to the 4-Minute Nair! It's like I'm cursing :D) Now... one last wank because you know I vucking love wanking this vucking show! ;)

Korbi, I just want to reiterate everybody's thank you's. There is just a lot of frustration going around at the moment, not just limited to Blair and Chuck fans. I personally am more aggrieved at the general narrative inconsistencies and character assassination that has been going on since episode 17.
Vanessa Abrams is the worst casualty of all and it is her character which I will address in this post. Having seemingly toiled to make an insufferable prig of a character somewhat tolerable, if not likable, current writing has not only rendered her progress void, but has actually made her even more repellent to even more people! Placing her between arguably two of the show’s most beloved characters who are in the midst of a love story which has been painstakingly developed over the course of two seasons, makes absolutely no sense. If this is a means to entwine her more securely in the world of Gossip Girl, the writers have failed. She is more of a cankerous interloper than ever before. If this is supposed to develop her character, not only have the writers failed, they have achieved the opposite. She is more of a hypocrite than anyone could have imagined and about as attached to her strongly-professed sense of morality as Blair is to wearing off-the-rack.
If this is purely a means of exploiting Jessica Szohr’s relationship with Ed Westwick, they have merely capitalised on something which should be private and should not be winked at at the expense of the fictional world which they inhabit. Which is, by the way writers, a separate entity. If they wished to explore their ‘chemistry’ (though I am loathe to apply the word to what is in this case real life seeping through the celluloid, not the alchemy of a great acting partnership) without it being detrimental to the story it interrupts, they have failed. Chuck’s dalliance with Vanessa, above all people, cheapens his love for Blair. Who cares if there is sexual tension to be had with the entire population of New York City when the entire point of this season for Chuck has been discovering whether he is capable of love; whether he will ever believe he is worthy of it. Having him sleep with Vanessa does a huge disservice to the story that they have been telling.
In short, I am utterly bemused as to the writers' intentions. I think it might be too late to redeem Vanessa, as she has never been anything more than a cypher anyway. I just hope the writers' disease can be contained before the characters most of us actually care deeply about are contaminated.

Despite all the haters, I actually pretty much like Vanessa. Surely (no questions on that) I prefer 100 % Chuck & Blair but probably affected by the real-life relationship of actors Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) and Jessica Szhor (Vanessa Abrams), I like this couple too. I find them really cute and passionate in a way when they are together in a scene.
ME: I'M A HATER!!! ;) Now, I find it ironic that the same people that state we shouldn't hate Lady Dreadlocks because she's with Ed because we should separate the characters from the RL are the same ones that have let that same thing affect their... 'appreciation' of Chuhobo. I dont know about you but that almost seems as contradictory as the Nairers, dont you all think? I think it's the Kool-Aid, poor vuckers can't vucking see straight.
Alice is a goddess. That other chick is a voyeur and dumber than a duck.
ReplyDeleteThat post deserves a standing ovation! Lovely, and EXACTLY the sentiment we're all feeling.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm getting extremely sick of all the voyeurs who like Chuhobo because of EJ. It's called ACTING for a reason and it should squick you out, not turn you on. That's just nasty. Same with Carter/B. It took me out of the storyline because it seemed to serve no purpose except to let the actors get their kicks by being with their significant other onscreen. It's lazy storytelling and I am not impressed.
EXACTLY! That is what I've been saying. We're frowned down on not liking EJ in RL because people state that we need to separate real life from the show YET those same fuckers are the ones that LOVE CV because their RL chemistry is on screen! fucking pisses me off, those hypocrites!
ReplyDeleteSigh. That whole 'separate the show from life' spiel from the people who can't do that drives me up a wall. Especially because for most of us, the reason that we do hate her so much is BECAUSE Szohr IS the one who CAN'T. Her continual pimping of CV, her self-aggrandizing statements, her whoring out her bf every chance she gets, the fact that the writers screwed the hell up out of CB just to accomodate her? These things generate HATE.
ReplyDeleteWithout those, she's just a terrible actress in a lousy role dumbing the show down. Contemptible but there are way too many of those to bother working up that much hate for.
I think in a point PRIOR to this people were just tolerant of her and her character. HOWEVER, the shift happened when CV came out of the blue (and I'm talking back in 2.07) and it's been downhill ever since. I know a lot of people liked NV just to keep Vanessa away from Chuck at all cost but a whole lot of good that did since the vuckery happened regardless. Either way, the likelihood of 80% of the fandom turning pro-V is as likely as Lady Dreadlocks winning an Oscar.
ReplyDeleteHuh, I thought her character was hated in season 1 as well. I remember the reviews being pretty scathing and I hated V back then. I thought she was a terrible actress as well.
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong. I just have never met a V fan ever. 2x07 was the WORST (until 2x20 at least).
Love the site, KAGs.
Yes, in Season 1 the Fug girls has a running joke about Vanessa and the media overall disliked her.
ReplyDeleteAlice deserves a medal for that one!
ReplyDeleteMy loathing of what occured between Chuck and Vanessa in 220 (an episode I still refuse to watch) is based on how wrong it was for the characters! I don't care about the private lives of the actors until it starts to bleed into my viewing enjoyment. This is what is happening on GG.
Yes, I have to admit to not liking Vanessa since last season. When she forced me to root for Dan/Serena, I knew we were in for a bad ride. Can they just write her out?
"When she forced me to root for Dan/Serena, I knew we were in for a bad ride."
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I felt. I hate when the writers try to push a character/couple on to you. Chair just came out of nowhere and now 80% loves them..but the writers seem to be against them (at least it seems). As for Vanessa, she's a lost cause. I was indifferent to her but now I can't stand her..and not in a love to hate kind of thing..more like "I hate you..please get of my tv screen." Which is sad..I'm never this harsh to a fictional character...
Oh..I'm new to this site. Just wanted to say I love it!
Firstly this site ROCKS. You guys are so awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd now...
What is the point of Vanessa? This character means nothing, and I really mean NOTHING to the show. Plus she annoys the HECK out of me. I cant stand her. Especially when the writers are stupid enough to make HER (a hated character) mess withCB (the most LOVED couple on GG), that's just plain STUPID. How do they come up with stuff like that? Geez.
there's a clip of a new interview with Josh S and he talks of how he thinks the show isn't just about the "racy things" or the "omfg moments" and it's about "well written characters" - and do you know what scene plays in the background when he's saying this?!?! VUCK!!!!! @#$#@%#$^%^$! i didnt know whether to laugh histerically or be enraged! i nearly threw up in my mouth at being forced to see this disgusting scene without any warning [i've refused to see 2.20]. well written characters my ass! is he even talking about the same show?!
ReplyDeletecleary js has an unchecked brain tumor. perhaps its fatal. maybe ss has one too. oh, the kool-aid probably causes it, and all the little vuckers will die. that would be nice.
